JEAN DAMMAN
1907—1988

Jean Damman, the daughter of Leonard and Anna Blok, was born at Hospers, Iowa on January 14, 1907. She lived her youth at rural Hospers and in 1912 she moved with her family to a farm south of Sanborn. She attended country school near Sanbom.

On November 12, 1930 she was united in marriage to George P. Damman of Sanborn, at The Little Brown Church at Nashua, la. and to this union three children were born. Following their marriage they farmed north of Sanbom.

Her husband preceded her in death. She entered Prairie View Home on. October 23, 1984 and passed away at Baum-Harmon Memorial Hospital at Primghar on December 28, 1988 at the age of 81 years, 11 months, 14 days.

She is survived by three children: sons and daughters-in-law Robert and Marilyn Damman of Melvin and Glenn and Bonnie Damman of Sanborn and daughter, Eileen Floyd of Racine, Wisc.; six grandchildren: David and Renae Damman, and Scott, Deborah, John and Dale Floyd; one brother, Leonard Blok of Lenox, S.D., also many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George, one brother, Adrian, three sisters: Elizabeth Koole, Nell Vander Aarde and Pearl DeBoom, and one grandson, Daryl Damman.

She was a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star and a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church for many years.

Funeral services were held December 31, 1988 at St. Andrews United Methodist Church with Rev. Keith Pals officiating. Casket bearers were David Damman, Rodney Buren, Scott Floyd, John Floyd and Dale Floyd. Honorary Bearers were Herman Buren and Lloyd DeGraaf. Soloist was Galen Rozeboom singing, "Be Still My Soul" and "Beyond the Sunset." Organist was Joy Petersen, Burial was in Roseland Cemetery, Sanbom with the Sanbom Funeral Home in charge.
