SERVICESS HELD WEDNESDAY FOR ALVIN SCHIERHOLZ

Services in memory of Alvin Schierholz were held at St. Joseph Catholic Church at Hartley Wednesday morning, May 30. Father Jerome Coyle officiated. The casket bearers were Dennis Petersen, Steve Lux, Bruce Baumgarn. Marvin Petersen, Kelly Lux and Craig Van Houten. The honorary casket attendants were Edward Jacobs, Earl Clay, Leonard Eischeid, Gerald Epping, Lee Nonnsman and Lester DeBoer. Burial was at the Pleasant View Cemetery at Hartley. Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of arrange­ments.

Alvin Henry Schierholz, the son of Carl and Adella Orthmann Schierholz, was born at Sutherland, Iowa on July 18, 1906. He graduated from Hartley High School in 1923.

He was united in marriage to Kathryn Lantaff at Sanborn, Iowa on December 28,1937. They farmed near Hartley until moving into town in 1956. For many years Al was self-employed as a livestock dealer. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge at Spencer.

He passed away at the hospital in Hartley on May 27,1979 at the age of 73.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister, Edna Lux.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kathryn; three daughters, Mrs. Leo (Marilynn) Duffy of West Des Moines, Mrs. James (Jane) Hansen of Marshaltown, and Mrs. John (Mary) Eischeid of Spencer; one son, Edward of Hartley; eleven grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
