Louise Marie Winter, age 76, of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Sanford Sheldon Medical Center in Sheldon.

Funeral Services will be Monday, June 6, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at St. John Lutheran Church, rural Boyden, Iowa. Rev. Daniel Hart officiating.

Burial to follow at St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Boyden.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 5, from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home Sheldon Funeral Service in Sheldon

Louise Marie Winter was born on March 27, 1940 in Doon, Iowa. She was the daughter of Arlie and Ella (Breuer) Techen. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hull, Iowa. She lived her youth in Doon where she attended school and graduated from Doon High School in 1958. Following graduation, Louise moved to Rock Rapids, Iowa where she worked as a telephone operator.
She was united in marriage to Ruben Winter of Boyden, Iowa on February 24, 1960 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hull. Together they dairied for 31 years, first in rural Boyden and then near Whitesboro, Texas. In 1991, they moved to Sheldon, Iowa where Louise worked at Aalfs Manufacturing and later as a telemarketer. When she retired, Louise enjoyed working as a Foster Grandparent at East Elementary and Village Northwest Unlimited. Louise was fortunate to be able to travel with her husband for numerous dairy events. They were also able to take their grandchildren on several trips including the Black Hills. These were some of Louise’s fondest memories.
Louise loved to visit with family and friends and will always be remembered for being the voice that kept the family connected. She will be greatly missed.
Louise passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Sanford Sheldon Medical Center in Sheldon.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 56 years, Ruben Winter of Sheldon, IA; children, Sandra (Doug) Schoof of Primghar, IA and Roger (Ronda) Winter of Whitesboro, TX; 6 grandchildren, Kristen (Kenny) Schoof Roose of Allison, IA, Lee (Brittany) Schoof of Harlan, IA, Rachael Winter Terrazas of Whitesboro, TX and her fiancé Kevin Dockery, Rebecca Winter of Collinsville, TX and her fiancé Justin Hull, Kara Winter of Whitesboro, TX, and Alec Schoof of Primghar, IA; 3 great-grandchildren, Alex Terrazas and Graysyn Terrazas of Whitesboro, TX and Wynn Schoof of Harlan, IA; one brother, Eldon (Shirley) Techen of Sheldon, IA; 2 sisters, Arlene Sohl of Rock Rapids, IA and Elaine (Ken) Sohl of Rock Rapids, IA; sister-in-law, Marlene Techen of George.
She was preceded in death by her son, Rodney Winter; her parents, Arlie and Ella Techen; brother, Arnold Techen; brother-in-law, Al Sohl; 2 nephews, Douglas Techen and Kevin Sohl.
