SERVICES HELD FOR CHARMAINE HERSOM

Funeral services for Charmaine Hersom were held at the United Methodist Church at Laurens Monday afternoon, September 24. Rev. Max Paige officiated. The Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Charmaine Koele Hersom, the daughter of Marion and Hazel Sittler Koele, was born May 20, 1947 at Hartley, Iowa. She attended Hartley schools and graduated from Hartley High School in 1965. She graduated from St. Joseph School of Nursing in Sioux City in 1969.

She was united in marriage to Arnold R. Hersom on September 24, 1966 at Spencer, Iowa. They made their home in Laurens and became the parents of two sons.

Charmaine was active in the Nursing Profession, working at the Pocahontas Community Hospital since 1969 and later working as a nurse in Omaha. She was very active in the Laurens Community as a member of the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Laurens Golf and Country Club and the ladies Golf Club, serving as an officer in both organizations. She was an organizer of the Laurens Community Pre-School and Board President from 1975-1981. She served on the Laurens Community Betterment Committee and was Secretary of the Pocahontas County Board of Social Services.

For the last year she had made her home in Omaha, Nebraska. She passed away there on September 20, 1984 at the age of 37.

Preceding her in death was her father in 1963.

Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Brett and Breck; her mother and step-father, Hazel and Ed Rons of Hartley; two sisters, Charlotte Decklever of Hartley and Mrs. Richard (Sharolyn) Jacobson of Lakeville, Minn.; two brothers, Keith of Hartley and Craig of New Orleans, La.; two step-sisters, Mrs. Jae (Glenda) Johnson of Medford, Oregon and Mrs. Edward (Janet) Schierholz of Hartley; two step-brothers, Loyd Rons of Altoona, Iowa and Jim Rons of Hartley; other relatives and many friends.
