Services Held Saturday For J. B. Davis,
Victim of Highway Accident

J. B. Davis, 80, was buried here Saturday afternoon following services held at the home northeast of Paullina at 1:30 and the Presbyterian church at 2:00 The Rev. L. R. Middents was in charge of the services. Burial took place at Prairie View cemetery. Pallbearers were Marvin Smith, Don Miller, Robert Livingston, Wallace Brown, Isaac Henderson and Raymond Raber. The ladies of Ruth circle of the church served a lunch to relatives and friends following the services.

James Bailey Davis, son of Aaron and Lovdy Davis, was born in Moore county, N. C on Jan. 12, 1870. He was the third child in a family of nine. During his youth he was united with the Baptist church.

While attending Shiloh academy he met Elma Moffitt to whom he was married on Nov. 26, 1896. To them were born four children, one of whom died in infancy.

In the spring of 1901 he moved his family to Iowa and located northeast of Paullina, where the family has resided ever since. To his friends he was known as just "Jim" He was 80 years and 26 days at the time of his death.

Those left to mourn are his widow, Elma Davis, his two daughters, Mrs. Harry Crouse of Paullina and Mrs. Chalmer Smith of Spirit Lake, one son, J. Warren Davis of Star, N.C., ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren, one brother, Eli Davis of Portsmouth, Va., and two sisters, Mrs. Josiah Reynolds and Miss Bertha Davis, both of Star, N.C.

Those here from out of town to attend the services were Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Hampton of Springville, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hampton of Ames, Gale Crouse of Ames, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Hunt, Lincoln, Nebr., Mr and Mrs Abel Moffitt of Ackworth, Mrs. Lewis Mott, Indianola, Jack Wittman, LeMars, J. Warren Davis, Star, N.C., Joy Smith of Iowa City, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Smith, Sioux City, Mr. and Mrs. Chalmer Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Iver Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Valoris Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Ceceil Shelton, Mr. and Mrs. Frank McCauley of Spirit Lake, Mr and Mrs. Minor Blum, Terril, and Mr and Mrs. George Pingrey of Cherokee.
