DEATH COMES WITHOUT WARNING

Martin Linder was born November 12, 1862, in Benton County, Iowa, and fell peacefully, tho unexpectedly, asleep in Jesus at his home five miles north of town on March 10, 1923, reaching the age of 60 years, 3 months and 28 days.

With Christian and Magdalena Linder, his parents, he spent his youthful days in Benton county and for the past 36 years he lived in the neighborhood of Hartley. When a lad of sixteen, in the year 1878, he was soundly converted to God and ever afterwards made use of the means of grace, serving God to the best of his knowledge, being active in the church of his choice and serving in the same in various offices.

May 27, 1880, he was married to Rosa Skellinger in Benton county, Iowa. This union was blessed with eight children, one of whom in early infancy preceded the father to the better world. He was concerned in the welfare of his family, proving to be a faithful husband, a kind father, a highly esteemed neighbor and a respected member of the church.

He leaves to mourn his unexpected departure his deeply sorrowing wife, four sons, Christ of Madelia, Minn., Albert, Fred and Martin living in this vicinity, threee daughters, Mrs. Martha Meehlhause, Mrs. Pearl Lyman and Maggie, all living in this neighborhood and four grandchildren; two brothers, (one brother has gone on before in death about ten years ago), three sisters, besides a host of friends who are looking forward toward the heavenly reunion.

Funeral services were from the home and the Evangelical church at Hartley in charge of the pastor, but Rev. C.S. Lang of Merril, Iowa deliverd the sermon. The Misses Pearl Guenther, Emma Hopfe and Emma Fischer, Mesdames Chas. Rost , Lou Putnam, and Messers. R. Hoper and John Carr furnished the music. Interment was made in Pleasant View Cemetery.

Those present at the funeral from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Christ Linder of Madelia, Minn., Mrs. Anderson of Burt, Henry Heibt of Dysart and John Pluck and son of Buffalo, Minn.
