6 year old Sanborn Boy Dies in Farm Accident
A 6-year-old rural Sanborn boy, Charles McCarty, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank McCarty, was killed accidentally last Wednesday night while playing with his brothers and sisters in a machine shed on the family farm.
The youngster was underneath a corn picker, which was placed on a raised platform, when the corn picker fell over on top of him. Dr. R. L. Zoutendam of Sheldon, O'Brien County medical examiner, was called to the scene and termed it an accidental death.
Funeral services for the boy were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Cecelia Catholic Church. The Rev. Joseph Kerwin officiated and burial was in the church cemetery with the Sanborn Funeral Home in charge.
Charles is survived by his parents, ten brothers and sisters, all at home, Joe, Donald, Gregory, John, Edward, Mary, Carol, June, Geraldean and Frances; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E.C. McCarty of Sheldon and Mr. and Mrs. Steven Pape of Sheldon.
