Bessie Belle Mansmith Hunt, the daughter of John C. and Julia Paul Mansmith, was born September 18, 1890, on a farm three miles east of Hartley, where she grew to young womanhood. She attended the Hartley High School.

In 1900, she was baptized in the Methodist church by the Reverend McBurney and joined that church in her youth. She faithfully did what she could for her church as long as her health permitted it.

She was united in marriage on March 26, 1912 to Frank S. Hunt of Spirit Lake in the home of her parents. This home was her home at the time of her passing away. To this union, two children, a daughter, Doris, and a son, Paul, were born. One son passed away in infancy.

She was a member of the Women's Society of Christian Service of the Methodist church and belonged to the Ruth Circle of that Society. She also belonged to the Rebekah Lodge, Past Noble Grand Circlde, the R.N.A. and the Amvet Auxiliary. In all of these, she served actively until she became ill. She was a great lover of flowers, a good companion and a friend in time of need.

She is survived by her husband, Frank Hunt; two children, Doris Mitts of of Milan, Illinois and Paul, of Hartley; one son-in-law and one daughter-in-law, and one grandson, Thietje Hunt; also two brothers, J.P. Mansmith of Arnolds Park, and Claude of Dakota City, Nebraska. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friend mourn her loss.

Those preceding her in death are her mother and father, 4 sisters, 4 brothers and 1 grandson.

Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 at the family home and at 2:00 Saturday afternoon by her pastor, the Reverend Raymond A. Roloff. Ronald R. Roloff sang, "Beyond the Sunset" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" accompanied by Mrs. Rolla Allred who also played other appropriate music.

The Rebekah Lodge also participated in the serviceds.

Interment was made in Pleasant View Cemetery.
