Military Funeral For Ray E. Moore
Held On Saturday

Ray E. Moore, 64, lifelong resident
of Sutherland, died at the
Veterans' Hospital at Sioux
Falls, S. Dak., Thursday, August
20, after having been a patient
there only a short time.
Funeral services were held
Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock
from the Baumgarten Funeral
Home with Joe Eggebrecht, pastor
of the Church of Christ, in
charge. Mrs. Silas Steele and
Mrs. Bernard Watterson, accompanied
by Mrs. Otis Hulser, sang
"Near to the Heart of God" and
"Rock of Ages."

Military services were conducted
by the Sutherland American
Legion Post No. 152, with
Dale Pinkerton, commander, in
charge. John Powell and Roger
Youde served as Color Bearers,
John Engelke and Don Waggoner
as Color Guards. Irvin Struve
was in charge of the firing squad
and Glen Waggoner, post chaplain,
presented the flag from the casket
to the family. Clayton Hill, bugler,
sounded taps.

Interment was in Waterman
cemetery.

Ray was born at Sutherland,
attended the local school, and
spent his entire life in the community,
with the exception of his
service in the U. S. Army during
World War I. He entered the
army July 23, 1918, at Primghar,
and was discharged. February 6,
1919, at Camp Dodge, Iowa, having
served as a private in the
Field Artillery.

Survivors are two sons, Jack
of Travis Air Force Base in California,
and Pvt. Donald Moore
of Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.; a
grandson, Wayne Moore, and
five nieces and nephews.
