1873 FRED BRIGGIE 1943

Fred Briggie the son of Frederick and Catherine Briggie, was born on July 14, 1873 in the Province of Hanover, Germany, where he was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. At the age of seventeen he emigrated from his native country and came to Ohio where he stayed with relatives for about two years. After that he sojourned in Nebraska for a number of years.

In 1907 he came to Paullina. Here he entered into the holy estate of matrimony with Mrs. Emma Hattermann, nee Leverenz, on December 4, 1907, Pastor Bernthal performing the ceremony. This union was blessed with three sons.

Having suffered a stroke on the previous Monday night Mr. Briggie departed this life in the morning of Thursday. December 30th at the age of 70 years, 5 months and 16 days.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 1, at 2:00 o'clock from Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, pastor Martin Peters officiating. Interment was made at the Paullina cemetery.

Mr. Briggie leaves to mourn his parting: His widow; his sons Irvin of Ankeny, Iowa, Almond and Francis of Paullina; his stepsons Bruene and Raymond Hattermann; and four sisters: Mrs. Catherine Riebesell. living in Ohio; Mrs. Mary Windt of Ridgevllle Corners, Ohio, and Mrs. Sophie Nagel and Mrs. Lena Heldtoerg of Holdgate, Ohio.
