ADOLPH GOSCH

Adolph Gosch, oldest son of
Claus Gosch and his wife, Anne
nee Untiedt, was born on April
27, 1872, in Scott County, Iowa,
where he attended the rural
schools and spent his boyhood.

On February 13, 1896, he was
united in marriage with Ida
Brehmer who preceded him in
death in August, 1953.

To this union, four children
were born: one son and three
daughters. Immediately following
their marriage, Mr. and Mrs.
Gosch moved to O'Brien County
where they wore engaged in
farming for 51 years, after which
they retired and moved to Hartley.

Although Mr. Gosch had been
in failing health the past few
years, he managed to be up and
around until the past eight
weeks which he spent in the hospital.

His sudden death on December
15, 1954, came as a shock
to his family and to the community.
He reached the age of
82 years, 8 months and 12 days.

Preceding him in death were
his wife, Ida, his father and mother,
two sisters, Agnes and Annie,
one brother, Henry, and one
grandson, Gordon Luedke.

He is survived by his four
children, Stella (Mrs. Emil Peters)
of Hartley; Gustave at home;
Mabel (Mrs. Julius Luedke) of
Primghar; and Ida (Mrs. Harold
Ewoldt) of Inglewood, California;
and also one brother, Gustav Gosch
and brother-in-law,
Hugo Dietz of Davenport, Iowa;
nine grandchildren and ten great
grandchildren and many other
relatives and friends.

Mr. Gosch will be greatly missed
by his family. He was always
a good provider and a loving father.
His greatest enjoyment was
to have his children and grandchildren
around him.

Funeral services were held at
the family home at two o'clock
Saturday afternoon. Florence
Fahlenkamp sang, "Going Down
the Valley," "Beautiful Isle if
Somewhere" and "Nearer My
God to Thee," accompanied by
Mrs. Rolla Allred.

Interment was made in Pleasant View cemetery at Hartley.
