Clifford John Schueder, Sr.

Services in memory of Clifford John Schueder, Sr. were held Saturday, May 3, 1997 at Bethel Lutheran Church, Sutherland, with Pastor Leroy Riemer officiating. Arrangements were by Warner Funeral Home with Sutherland American Legion Post #152 Military Service and interment at Waterman Cemetery, Sutherland.

Clifford John Schueder, the son of Elmer and Marie Back Schueder, was born November 30, 1929 in Calumet, Iowa and attended school in Sutherland.

Following his schooling, Clifford entered the military and served with the Army from November 3, 1947 until the time of his discharge on November 2, 1951. While serving in Korea, he was wounded on July 16, 1950 and was awarded the Purple Heart. He also was given the Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star, Korean Service Medal and the Presidential Unit Citation.

On September 3, 1951, Clifford married Sarah Theresa Nicoletti in Colorado Springs, CO. Following their marriage, they returned to St. Paul, MN and in 1958, they moved to the Sutherland and Calumet areas. He had worked as a farm hand until 1969, and then became a USDA meat inspector in the Cherokee area until 1978. He moved to the Albert Lea, MN area as a meat inspector, but came back to Sutherland in 1987. He then retired and moved to Calumet.

Clifford was an avid fisherman and loved horses and enjoyed going to dances. These were things that gave him many hours of enjoyment.

On Wednesday, April 30, 1997, Mr. Schueder passed away at the Marian Health Center in Sioux City, Iowa at the age of 67.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Sarah on October 25, 1975; one son, Curtis; one daughter, Catherine; and one grandson, Joseph.

Clifford is survived by four daughter and their husbands: Rosemarie and Paul Partridge of Calumet; Cynthia and Glenn Driesen of Cherokee; Colleen and Kenneth Rhea of Quimby; Charlene and Mike Shriver of Calumet; one son, Clifford, Jr. of Calumet; 18 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; one brother and his wife; Delbert and Lori Schueder of Paullina; one sister, Beverly Durst of Primghar, as well as other relatives and friends.
