Services held for Vicki L. Newell

Funeral services for Vicki L. Newell were held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 1997, at the United Methodist Church in Sutherland, Iowa, with Rev. Dean McPherson officiating. "Peace in the Valley," "On Eagles Wings," and "One Day At A Time" were sung by Joel and Andrea Orthmann. The organist was Mrs. Elaine Leonard. Jo Horstmann, Becky Vander Tuig and Diane Wede were in charge of flowers. The casket bearers were Jim Hoppe, Marvin Hoppe, Jim Johnson, Dudley Hinz, Steve Hinz and Greg Wede. Interment was at Waterman Cemetery in Sutherland, Iowa, under the direction of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.

OBITUARY

Vicki Lynn Newell, the daughter of William and Mary Hoppe Hinz, was born October 25, 1952, in Primghar, Iowa. She started school in Gaza, Iowa, before moving to Primghar to complete her education, graduating from Pnmghar High School in 1970. She attended Stewarts Beauty School in Sioux City. She returned to Primghar where she was employed as a beauty operator.

On June 30, 1973, she was united in marriage to David Newell at the United Church in Primghar. After their marriage, the couple settled in Sutherland, Iowa, where Vicki owned her own beauty shop for many years.

She passed away on Sunday, May 4, 1997, at her home in Sutherland, reaching the age of 44 years, 6 months and 9 days.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sutherland and belonged to the United Methodist Women of the church. Vicki was also a member of the Commercial Club in Sutherland and enjoyed doing crafts.

Vicki leaves to cherish her memory her husband, David of Sutherland; one daughter, Angie and her special friend, Nathan Pohlen, two sons: Brandon and Ryan, all of Sutherland; two sisters: Shirley and her husband, Ronald Aldred of Primghar and Dolores and her husband, Greg Bina of Sutherland; also nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; nephew, Scott Bina, and a niece, Roxann Aldred.
