Death of an Aged Resident
Mrs. August Gaudian Died Monday Morning at her Home.

Monday morning of this week at the hour of one o'clock occurred the death of Mrs. Wilhelmine Gaudian, nee Proehl.

Death came after a short illness. She attended services at the Lutheran church the morning of Good Friday, but in the afternoon was taken ill. The ailment developed rapidly and was pronounced pneumonia. She failed rapidly until her death came Monday morning. She had always enjoyed good health until about eight years ago when she suffered a fall into a cellar at her home. In this fall she had a shoulder broken, several ribs and some internal injuries. From this she never entirely recovered, remaining more or less an invalid.

The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock at the Lutheran church, Rev. Semmann officiating. Interment was in the Prairie View Cemetery.

The deceased was born January 19, 1841 at Domslaf, West Preussen, Germany. In 1865 she was united in marriage to August Gaudian. In 1895 she and her husband and family came to America, settling at Calumet in this vicinity. From there they moved to Caledonia township where they lived until 1912 when they moved to Paullina.

A family of eleven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Gaudian, six being deceased and five surviving the death of their mother. They are Carl, Fred and Albert of Paullina, August, Jr. of Holland, Minn., and Mrs. Bertha Ehlers of Iroquois, S.D. Her husband, August Gaudian, also survives to mourn her death.

In early childhood the deceased was confirmed in the faith of the Lutheran church and she remained steadfast in her belief until her death that wa always faithful to her responsibilities.
