Mr Walter Beermann was born in Germantown, O'Brien county, Iowa, on August 31, 1901. Eight days after his birth his parents dedicated him to the Lord in Holy Baptism and at the age of 13 years he renewed his baptismal covenant through confirmation in the St. John's Ev Lutheran Church of Germantown.

On January 1, 1929 he was united in marriage with Norma nee Appledorn. To this happy union was born three boys and three girls, the one daughter, Luella, being called through death in infancy.

Living close to nature and feeling the nearness of God Mr Beermann enjoyed his farming activities. On April 26, 1936, he became affiliated with the membership of Zion Evangelical and Reformed church of Calumet, the church in which he found a joy in attending only a few days before his death. On June 4th, 1936 he united with the membership of the Brotherhood of Zion church, an organization which always appreciated his presence and interest.

Having a heart filled with a Christian service interest, Mr Beermann made many friends, friends who always admired him for his courage and determination to conquer the many struggles of human life.

On May 26. 1937. Mr Beermann was overtaken by death when he set out to do what he believed was his duty, but was accidentally overcome by high water on his farm near Paullina. It was at this sad occasion that one could see the numerous friends he had, for friends from nearby and from great distances risked their lives to locate the body of their friend.

Our dear brother leaves to mourn his departure, his dear wife, five children, Caroline, Ronald, Bertha, Merle and Merlin, his dear mother, Mrs. Louise Beermann, one brother, Arthur; five sisters, Mrs. (Frieda) Albert Wittrock, Mrs. Amanda Wittrock, (Hilda) Mrs. Geo Arvidson, (Velma) Mrs. Earl Miller, and (Clara) Mrs. OrvlIIc Rohlfsen, a number of other relatives and a score of friends.

Jesus, while our hearts are bleeding
o'er the spoils that death has won
We would at this solemn meeting
calmly say, "Thy Will Be Done."
By Thy hands the boon was given.
Thou hast taken but Thine own;
Lord of Earth and God of Heaven,
Evermore "Thy Will Be Done."

Funeral services were held at the home north of Paullina on Friday afternoon, May 28th, 1937, at 2 00 p. m., at the Presbyterian church of Paulllna at 2:30 p. m., interment in Prairie View cemetery near Paullina. Services in charge of Rev C. E. Gabler of Calumet.—Contributed.
