Mrs. Mae Harris, wife of the late William J. Harris, passed away at Baum-Harmon Hospital on August 24th after a brief illness.
Mae was born May 15th, 1896, at Blaristown, Iowa, and moved to Paullina in 1903, with her parents, Harvey and Ora Troutman, and a sister Effie.
William J. Harris and Mae were married April 7th, 1922 at Rock Rapids, Iowa, and lived most of their married life in Paullina. Their three children, Homer, Shirley and Bill were all born and raised in Paullina.Mae was the oldest living member of the Grace Methodist Church, and active in the many church functions all of her life. She was also an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and enjoyed the warm fellowship of Senior Citizens Club the past few years. Mae was preceded in death by her parents and sister, her husband, William, who passed away Oct. 2, 1974, and a daughter, Shirley.
Pallbearers for Grandma Harris were her six grandsons, Mike Harris, Abilene, Tex., Brett Harris, Omaha, Nebr., Kent Harris. Tulsa, Okla., Bill and Berry Bennier, Greeley, Colo., and Brian Bennier, of Long Beach, Calif.
Mae is survived by two sons, Homer and his wife Jerrie of Tulsa, Okla., Bill and his wife Reba of Omaha, Nebr., a son-in-law, Waldo Bennier and his wife Frances of Long Beach, Calif., ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. In addition to other relatives, host of friends and neighbors will miss her passing.
