Funeral Services for R. B. Knuth Are Being Held Today
Reinhold B. Knuth, 75, who devoted 37 years of his life to teaching at St. John Lutheran school, died Sunday afternoon at 4:15 at his home in Germantown He had been in ill health for more than a year but had been fairly active again until he became worse in late December. Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) at St. John Lutheran church at 2:00. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.Paullina Times, Paullina, Iowa, July 9, 1953, P1
Obituary of R. B. Knuth, A Teacher at St. John School for 37 Years
Reinhold Bernhard Knuth, son of Henry and Johanna Knuth, was born June 20, 1878 at Freistatt, Wis. He attended the Christian day school near his home in Wisconsin, and after his confirmation began his preparation for teaching in the parochial school graduating from Concordia Teachers college, Addison, Ill, in 1899. In that year he accepted a call to St. John Lutheran school at Germantown. Here he taught for 37 years, until 1936, when he retired from teaching. For a number of years after that he operated a store in Paullina.
On Sept. 23, 1904 he was married to Anna Meyer at Germantown. To them were born five sons, one of whom preceded his father in death, in 1929.
After a prolonged illness Reinhold Knuth died Sunday afternoon, July 5, 1953. He was 75 years and 15 days of age, at the time.
He is survived by his wife, Anna, four sons; Gerhard of Paullina, Roland of Allen Park, Mich.; Martin of Paullina and Richard of Mapleton; twelve grandchildren; two brothers, Henry of Oconomowoc, Wis. and Louis of West Bend, Wis. and two sisters, Irma (Mrs. August Guest) and Elnora (Mrs. William Wagner), both of Milwaukee.
