Another pioneer of Caledonia township and a life-long member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church was laid to rest on last Saturday: Mrs. Anna Tesch. The last rites were in charge of Pastor W H Jurgens, who in the church service spoke In English and German on the words of the holy seer, St. John, recorded in Revelation 14, 13. Congregational singing enhanced the solemnity and dignity of the divine service.
The body was placed in the bosom of the earth beside the remains of the deceased's husband, there to await the final resurrection unto eternal life. It was borne to its chamber of rest by Messrs. Fred Boesche, Fred Fiddelke, Dick Fiddclke, J. C. Lange, Fred Meyer and Philip Richter.
Anna Henrietta Dorothea Tesch was born September 16th, 1868, at Dalton, Cook County, Ill., the daughter of Daniel Meyer and his wife Caroline nee Schmidt. She was baptized on Nov 1st, 1868, at Lansing, Ill, but the sainted Pastor J. Raushart.
Her father, Daniel Meyer, was one of the 12 charter members and organizers of St. John Congregation, on October 1st. 1878. the Meyer family having moved to Caledonia township
just shortly before. On May 21st 1882, the deceased was confirmed in the Christian faith by the sainted Pastor Ernest Zuerrer, the fifth Confirmand entered in the records of St. John Church. And to this vow of allegiance to the Triune
God the deceased, with the help of God, remained true all her life.On November 28th, 1888, she became the wife of Mr. Christian Tesch who preceded her in death on July 1932. God blessed this union with 2 sons and 5 daughters. For some time the deceased had been ailing and confined to the
home of her daughter, Ella, Mrs. John Mesner, Jr., where she received loving care. In her sickness she welcomed the comfort of God's Word brought to her by her Pastor.On Thursday morning, Nov. 19th, the Lord delivered His saint from all evil of body and soul, and took her unto himself in heaven, as we have every reason to believe. She reached
an age of 74 years, 2 months, and 3 days.The survivors include her children: Meta, Mrs. John Koch, of Wanda, Minn.; Martha, Mrs. Albert Beerman, of Sanborn, Minn.; Alma, Mrs. Albert Pauling, of Lamberton, Minn.; Ella, Mrs. John Mesner, Jr., resident here; Bertha, Mrs. Herman Breitbarth, resident here; Edward, resident here; Albert, of Calumet; also one sister, Mrs. Emma Kluender
of Minneapolis; three brothers, Herman Meyer, of Paullina; William and Henry, of Minneapolis; also 39 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; besides a host of other
near and distant relatives and friends."Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord!"
