Death of Danicl Meyer

The sudden and unexpected death of Mr. Dauiel Meyer of this place last Friday morning at an early hour was one of the sad surprises that always come with such, a force as to be scarcely believeable. Mr. Meyer had been injured the previous day while his team had gained the advantage of him near his home and while he was unloading some cobs, but there was little known of the extent of his injuries until the next morning when it was learned that life had fled. His principal injuries were over one lung. But it was learned that his head and arm were also hurt.

The funeral was held at the home in the north addition on Sunday afternoon, the interment taking, place at the Germantown cemetery.

Daniel Meyer was born in Beistland, Germany in 1833, and passed away November 22, 1901, at the ago of 68 years and 3 days. He was married about 1860 to Miss Lena Schmidt, moving in 1863 to Cook county, Illinois, and in 1878 to Caledonia township, O'Brien county, Iowa, where he resided until three weeks ago when he and bis wife moved to Paullina. Nine children were born to them, seven of which, with the sorrowful mother, mourn his loss.

The children now living are Robert of Pipestone county, Minn., Chas. L., Mrs. Chris Tesch, Herman, Henry and Emma of this county and William of Bingham Lake, Minn.

Mr. Meyer was a pioneer citizen of this county and was a friend to all as well as a hard working and honest gentlemen and neighbor. His sudden departure is greatly regretted.
