Raymond H. Witt

Funeral services for Raymond H. Witt were held Monday, January 24, 1994, at 2:00 p.m. from the Zion Lutheran Church in Paulina, Iowa. Rev. Stephen Kamprath officiated. The honorary casket bearers were Rhiney Massmann, Ralph Kruger, Bill Goosen and Leonard Fiddelke. The casket bearers were Bob Faust, Bernie Schnoes, Glen Jorgensen, Bob Engel, Dean Pottebaum and Henry Hansen. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Leitz were in charge of flowers. Interment was at the Prairie View Cemetery in Paullina, Iowa, under the direction of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home. A military flag presentation was conducted by Russell West Post of the American Legion.

OBITUARY

Raymond H. Witt, the son of Ted and Anne Runge Witt, was born October 30,1923, in Primghar, Iowa. He received his education in a country school in the Primghar area. He then was called into the service and served in the Army during World War II and was stationed in Germany.

On May 20, 1948, he was united in marriage to Ann Schafer in Bonn, Germany. After their marriage the couple settled in the Paullina area. Ray was employed by the Farmers Cooperative Elevator for many years before his retirement in 1986.

He remained in Paullina until entering the Veteran's Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and passing away on Friday, January 21, 1994, reaching the age of 70 years, 2 months and 21 days.

He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina, the Lutheran Laymen's League and the Russell West Post of the American Legion. He enjoyed bowling and playing cards.

Ray leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Ann of Paullina; two daughters, Elleonore Witt of Paullina and Rita Lea and her husband, Pat Shea of West Bloomfield, New York; two grandchildren: Jeremy and Jennifer Shea; one brother, Elmer Witt of Hartley; and one sister, Mrs. Gladys Schuknecht of Cleghorn; also a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
