Frances M. Schwartz

Funeral services were held for
Frances M. Schwartz, 80, on
Monday, August 25, 1997, at Archer
United Methodist Church, Archer.
Rev. Charles Tefft officiated.
Interment was at Pleasant Hill
Cemetery, Primghar.

Casket bearers were Chad
Schwartz, Jeff Metheny, David
Bjork, Nathan Smith, Jason Berg and
Raymond Bjork.

Frances Marion (Bjork) Schwartz,
the daughter of Charles and Anna
(Hinspeter) Bjork, was born near
Archer, IA on April 27, 1917. She
attended Archer Consolidated
School, graduating in 1934. She
attended Iowa Teachers College at
Cedar Falls where she received her
rural teacher's certificate. She taught
for seven years in the rural schools of
O'Brien County and two years in
Archer.

Frances was united in marriage to
Briggs Eugene Schwartz on April 15,
1934 at Spencer, IA. They farmed
near Archer until his death on May 6,
1983.

Frances died at Marian Health Center,
Sioux City. IA on August 22, 1997.

She is survived by her children:
Stanley and Jane Schwartz of
Primghar, Louise and Wayne Smith
of Atlantic, IA, and Todd and Teresa
Schwartz of Titonka, IA;
grandchildren: Chad and Maria
Schwartz, Valerie Simmons, Laura
Schwartz, Lisa and Jeff Metheny,
Amy and Jason Berg, and Nathan
Smith, Brittney and Alyssa
Schwartz; great-grandchildren:
Elizabeth, Joshua, Aaron, Bethany,
and Savannah; and one brother:
Walter Bjork of Archer.

She was preceded in death by her
parents, her husband, two brothers
and one sister.

She was a member of the Archer
United Methodist Church where she
had served on the church building
committee, was a past Sunday
School teacher, and was a member of
the UMW. She also had served as a
4-H leader, Summit Homemaker,
and was a 50-year member of the 3M
Club.

Frances will be remembered as an
avid gardener with a passion for
raising flowers which she shared by
putting arrangements on the church
alter. She was also very proficient
in sewing, knitting, crocheting and
enjoyed reading.
