OBITUARY

Erwin Brockmann, the son of John D. and Sophia Goehrs Brockmann, was born July 11, 1912, in Caledonia Township, O'Brien County, Iowa. He received his education at St. John's Lutheran School in Germantown.

On February 20, 1938, he was united in marriage to Kathryn Metcalf in Sutherland, Iowa. After their marriage, the couple settled on a farm southeast of Germantown where they farmed for 50 years. They also owned and operated Brockmann's Fryers, a poultry processing operation. The couple moved into Paullina in 1987. Erwin had been a resident of the Wide View Rest Home in Paullina for the last year and a half.

He passed away on Thursday, February 27. 1992, at the Spencer Hospital, reaching the age of 79 years, 7 months and 16 days.

He was baptized on July 28, 1912, and later confirmed on April 10, 1927. He was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He was active serving on the church council and a member of the Lutheran Layman's League. He helped start the bus transportation for St. John's Lutheran School. He was known for his vocal solos at many weddings and funerals.

Erwin leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Kathryn of Paullina; two sons and daughters-in-law: Charles and Linda Brockmann of Paullina and Don and Becky Brockmann of Hartley; five grandchildren: John. Susan, Brenda, Julie and Sharon; also a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters and two brothers.

Erwin Brockmann Funeral services lor Erwin Brockmann were held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, 1992, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Germantown, Iowa, with Rev. Charles Kramer officiating. The honorary pallbearers were Les Dau, Richard Grosshauser, Paul Brockmann. Burdette Ewoldt, Henry Zeeb and Hillard Mueller. The pallbearers were Rodney Brockmann, Bob Metcalf, Ken Meyer, Kim Holtorff, Jim Metcalf, Steve Meyer and Martin Tressler.

The final resting place is St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Ger-mantown, Iowa, under the direction of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.
