Wilbur J . Van Beek, 66, of Sanborn died Monday, April 2 at the Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon. Services were Wednesday at Christian Reformed Church at Sanborn with Rev. Stuart C. Pastine officiating. Burial was in Roseland Cemetery, Sanborn, under the direction of the Sanborn Funeral Home.
Van Beek, son of William and Jacoba (Snip) Van Beek, was born at Melvin on Dec. 29, 1923. He lived his youth in the Melvin and Sanborn areas and received his education at Sanborn. He married Agnes Kuik at Denver, CO. They spent their married life farming in the Sanborn vicinity and they moved into the town of Sanborn in February of1984. He was a member of the Sanborn Christian Reformed Church, the Men's Society and had served as elder with the church.

Survivors include his wife; five sons, Wayne of Rushmore, MN, Calvin of Sheldon, Jerry arid Rodney of Hartley, and Harlan of Sanborn; a daughter, Brenda (Mrs. Jerry) Bait of Sheldon; 16 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Henry and Roger of Sanborn; and three sisters, Jeanette Sterk, Sheldon, Joan DeBie, Chino, CA, and Julie Frazier of California.
