Andrew Bosch Jr., the son of Andrew Sr. and Jenny (Heitmeier) Bosch was born August 22, 1922 in Sheldon, Iowa. He received his education in a country school. Andrew (Andy) helped his dad and their neighbors with farm work. In March of 1944, he was drafted into the United States Army and served during World War II. He was wounded in Germany in November of 1944; he received 2 Purple Hearts before being discharged from the service in May of 1946 and returned to Sheldon, Iowa. Andrew and Jeanette S. Bosma were united in marriage on August 2, 1946, they made their home in Sheldon, Iowa. Andrew worked for Neal Chase Lumber and for the city of Sheldon. In the spring of 1948 they moved to the family farm near Hospers and farmed for 35 years before they retired and moved to Sheldon. In 2009, Andrew and Jeanette moved to Long Term Care in Orange City, Iowa.
Andy was a member of the American Reformed Church in Primghar where he taught catechism and served in the Consistory. After moving to Sheldon, he became a member of Bethel Reformed Church. Andy was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #54 of Sioux City, Iowa. He enjoyed volunteering his time and talents at Northwest Unlimited, Home Health and Hospice; he made many projects for several organizations. Andy also enjoyed woodworking, making many gifts for his wife, his children and grandchildren; he always inscribed a Bible verse that was special to him on each piece he made for his family.
After a wonderful and accomplished life, Andrew Bosch Jr. passed away on Friday, September 2, 2011 at Long Term Care, at the age of 89 years and 11 days. Andy is survived by his wife Jeanette, of Orange City; their 3 daughters and husbands, LaDonna Jean and Wesley Jarnagin of Altoona, Iowa; Andrea Jane and Steve Bierman of Marcus, Iowa and Ivonne Beth and Darin Lake of Boise, Idaho; 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, 4 sisters; Mary Holtrop of Fulda, Minnesota; Clara Vellinga of Sheldon, Iowa; Geraldine Walvoord of Sanborn, Iowa and Margaret Smith of Marietta, Georgia; his brother, John Bosch of Dakota City, Iowa; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Ann Bosch in 1956; a great granddaughter, Jenna Beth Toulouse; a sister, Tina Langenhorst; a brother, Simon; a sister-in-law and 5 brothers-in-law.
