KANEOHE, HI—Russell L. Struyk, 67, Kaneohe, HI, formerly of Sheldon, died Wednesday,May 5, at his home.
Private services are pending.
Russell Struyk, the oldest of three sons born to M. and Kay Struyk, was born Aug. 21, 1942, in Sheldon.
After graduating from the University of Iowa in Iowa City and the Air Force ROTC, he was commissioned a second lieutenant He served in Vietnam as a weapons controller and was awarded the Bronze Star. His highest rank was captain. He was a retired U.S. Army Air Force Exchange Service manager and Air Force veteran.
He loved the University of Iowa and was a huge Hawkeye fan.
Survivors include two brothers, Bill Struyk of Brookhaven, NY, and Ken Struyk of Sheldon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arie and Kay Struyk.
