Kay Wyman died peacefully at home in Bellingham early December 30, 2005, with her daughter, Shirley Gillespie, by her side.

She joins her loving husband, Austin Wyman, and son, Jim Holland, in heaven.

She is survived by her 101-year-old sister, Emma Gronnestad, of Red Deer, Alberta; daughters Shirley Gillespie of Bellingham and Betty Breivik of London, Ontario; daughter-in-law, Arlene Holland of Hanley, Saskatchewan; grandchildren, John and David Gillespie, Susan Carroll, Elaine Klimosko, Betty Lynn Peek, Leanne Rose, Rod Holland, Jody Lipke, Kevin Breivik, Joan Snyder and their spouses; 20 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Kay was born November 16, 1909, in Hartley, Iowa, to German immigrants John and Mary Greggerson.

At age 5, her family moved to Strongfield, Saskatchewan, a small farming community on the prairie.

She and daughter Shirley moved to Victoria, British Columbia, in 1945, and it was there that she met her husband, Austin.

They were married in 1950 in Port Angeles and Kay lived there until 2001. She worked at Peoples Department Store and Singer Sewing Machines for many years.

Kay and Austin shared a love of the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, clamdigging, boating, camping and traveling with their trailer in tow.

Kay also loved gardening and cooking. She was an excellent seamstress and she crocheted or knit most nights of her life. She made thousands of colorful winter hats for homeless people.

Kay was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church and the Dorcas Guild of Port Angeles. She was devoted to her family and her many friends.

Everyone who knew Kay will miss her deeply.
