Funeral services were held Friday, May 5, 1995 at Trinity United Church of Christ, Hartley, Iowa, for Elmer F. Johnson, 79 of Hartley. Reverend Milo Sheldon officiated and burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery, Hartley. He died Monday, May 1, 1995 at the Spencer hospital.

Elmer was born the son of Dick and Theda Post Johnson on October 5, 1916 in Raymond SD. He graduated from high school there in 1935.

On August 9, 1940, he married Ione Zaiser in Hartley, Iowa and they farmed near Hartley for many years. He also worked for the Hunting Elevator and the United Building Center.

Mr. Johnson was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ where he was on the church consistory and a member of the Brotherhood.

Preceding him in death were his parents, ten brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Ione of Hartley, two daughters and their husband, Judy and Edward Kramme of Osage, Jean and Ronald Reiman of Shell Lake, WI.; one son and his wife, James and Colleen Johnson of Sutherland, seven grandchildren, Robin Howell, Marci Krull and Todd Kramme; Mathew and Sara Rieman, Darin and Sonya Johnson; four grandchildren, Chris and Abby Howell; B. J. and Jordan Krull; one brother, Arnold of Simi Valley, CA., and many other relatives and friends.
