Thank you for the quick reply. Some Muscatine County historical court records are available online via FamilySearch, and using the divorce reference you mentioned, I was able to locate a record in the court “minutes” to the divorce being granted. See link below. It mentions custody of 8-year-old Frank being awarded to Lydia Russell. That age is right and so I’m thinking that may be my Frank. That still leaves lots of questions—why the divorce, why did Frank end up with the Kebortz, what happened to J.J. and Lydia? There is a J.J. Russell who was a Muscatine lawyer - could that be the father?

Do the library records you mention tend to have more details — like a copy of the divorce application/petition?

That Minnesota death record may be my Maggie Russell, I will check it out.
