MUSCATINE, Iowa – Vernon Sissel, 78, of 817 Cedar St., Muscatine, died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 1997, at his home. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church, Muscatine. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Muscatine. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home, Muscatine. Mr. Sissel retired in 1985 after 30 years as custodian at Muscatine Public Library.

He was born March 26, 1919, in Muscatine. He married Viola Hall in 1954 in Muscatine. Survivors include his wife; a son, Rev. Gary, Gardiner, N.Y.; a grandson; sisters, Bonnie Rohde, Muscatine, and Lucy Martin, Silvis, Ill.; and brothers, Arthur, Muscatine, and Richard, Winterset.
