Hi Tonya,

I see the family of Josiah Scull living in Bloomington Twp, Muscatine Co. IA in the 1870 Federal Census.

Mary A 54yrs - housekeeper
George W 11yrs
E. A. 9yrs
Wm H 6yrs
Cora 1yr

Is this the family you are trying to follow?

Usually the census taker will note residents of Muscatine City and those who lived outside the city limits as resident of Bloomington Twp.

Following this line of thought, the Scull family is not listed in the Muscatine City Directories of 1866 or 1868. These directories are posted on under the section of City & County Landowner Directories on the home page reference grid.

I have not found any Scull family baptismal record in any material that I have. There is a book of St. Mary's Catholic church records at Musser Public Library, that I can check when I go there next.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
