The Winn family in NY...there are stories of Peter Winn being born at sea and also, in NY. I remember an Eliphalet Winn whom my grandfather, Forest Winn used to visit down there...look at:

I have not been able to trace my Winns either. They were caucasion Welsh???Peter Winn was born either in NY or at sea. He was married to Aviah Chase of Vermont and they moved through Ohio and Iowa.
