Looking for info on grandfathers family.

We are in search of any information about Fred Emil Schoondyke. We are at a halt until we can find more info. We are told that his parents were Bill and Blanche Gelson and that he took the Schoondyke name from a Buddy Schoondyke. We do not know what Buddy's real name was or if he was actually related. We also can not find any info on the Gelsons. He had been in the Muscatine Orphanage at one time, but we dont know how to get info from there either. He was born in 1935. Any info would be greatly appreciated!!!!
