Last rites for Merle Lenker, 75, West Liberty, were held at the Lacock Funeral Home, Wilton, May 9 with the Rev. Paul Pennington officiating. Burial was in Oakdale cemetery. Pallbearers were Jerry and Lee Lenker, Roger Marolf, Donald Meyer and Brad and Alan Smith.

Mr. Lenker died at Mercy hospital, Iowa City, May 6.

The son of Eugene and Grace Gill Lenker, he was born in Cedar county Aug. 12, 1912. He married Bernice Daut at Rock Island, Ill. Dec. 14, 1934. They farmed in the West Liberty area, retiring in 1969. He was employed at Louis Rich in West Liberty for 14 years.

He is survived by his wife; 3 daughters, Mrs. Melvin (Patricia) Grim, West Liberty; Mrs. Harold "Al" (Nancy) Sterner, Muscatine and Mrs. Terry (Pamela) McVay, West Liberty; 6 grandchildren, 2 brothers, Alfred (Stub) and Lauren, Wilton and 3 sisters, Vera Marolf, Wilton; Mrs. Carl (Dorothy) Meyer, Moscow and Lois Smith, Muscatine. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters.
