Funeral services for Harry Johnson Griffith, 93, retired Wilton businessman, will be held at the United Presbyterian church, Wilton, at 10:30 a.m. today (May 4) with the Rev. Tellford Dindinger officiating. Burial is in Oakland cemetery. Pallbearers are Steve, Dennis and Derek Fulton, Harry Luethye, Paul Drumm and Geroge McCoy. Honorary pallbearers are Milt House, Allen and James Voss, Jake Davies, Charles Norton and Walter Kaufmann.
Mr. Griffith died at Lutheran Homes, Muscatine, April 30.
The son of William and Ollie Johnston Griffith, he was born at Muscatine Aug. 3, 1894. He married Nellie Bryant at Muscatine Sept. 30, 1920. She died in 1984.
Mr. Griffith was an army veteran of World War I and a member of the American Legion at Wilton.
In 1921 he graduated from the Cincinnati College of Embalming and joined his father in the hardware, furniture and funeral business until he retired in 1980.
He was a member of the Wilton Masonic lodge, No. 1677, AF&AM, the Davenport Consistory and Kaaba Shrine in Davenport. He was a charter member of the Wilton Lions club.
He is survived by a brother-in-law, Charles Fulton, Muscatine, a nephew, Robert Drow, Des Moines and a cousin, Margaret Griffith, Muscatine.
Memorials may be made to the Lutheran Homes or to the Wilton Historical society for the preservation of the Rock Island depot in Wilton.
