Funeral services for Dwight Davis, 73, were held at West Liberty Nov. 14 with the Rev. Ralph Farmer officiating. Burial was in Oak Ridge cemetery. Mr. Davis died at Mercy hospital, Iowa City, Nov. 11.
The son of Dewey and Harriet C. Wentz Davis, he was born in Union township, Johnson county June 23, 1912. He was married to Wilma Merridith in Cedar Rapids March 4, 1939.
He worked for the Rock Island Railroad and later for Louis Rich Foods in West Liberty. He was a navy veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the Mansell Phillips American Legion post in West Liberty.
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife; a son, Richard, Appleton, Wis.; 4 daughters, Mrs. Sam (Carolyn) Aranday, West Liberty; Mrs. Kenneth (Marilyn) Wilson, Marion; Jane Davis and Mrs. Gene (Kathy) Miller, both of Iowa City; 2 sisters, Mrs. Russell (Blanche) Wolfe, Iowa City and Mrs. Kenneth (Lucille) Stuart, Allison; 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers and a sister.
