Funeral services for Robert D. Richey, 71, West Liberty, were held Aug. 1, 1987 at the George L. Gay Funeral Home in Iowa City, with the Rev. Dale Batcheler officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens cemetery.
Mr. Richey died July 29 at Mercy hospital in Iowa City after a short illness.
The son of Clinton and Daisy Selser Richey, he was born Sept 10, 1915 in Lone Tree. He married Margaret Schooley March 23, 1937 in West Liberty. He was a retired plumber from University hospitals in Iowa City and Liberty Plumbing in West Liberty.
He was a member of the First Christian church in West Liberty and was extremely active in Masonic activities, William Reynolds Lodge 667 AF and AM, York Rite Bodies, KYCH, Iowa York Rite College, Davenport Consistory, American Legion 457, Lone Tree and the National Rifle Association. He was Grand Treasurer of the Grand Commandry of Iowa.
Mr. Richey is survived by his wife; a son, John, Washington; a brother, Herbert, North Liberty and a sister, Grace Richey, Iowa City. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
