Mrs. Wingerter Called in Death; Rites Wednesday
Mrs. Fred Wingerter, 70, 311 West Seventh Street, died Sunday afternoon at Mercy hospital, Iowa City.

Mrs. Wingerter underwent surgery Jan. 11 and was ready to leave the hospital when she suffered a heart attack.

Katherine Carrie Kuriger was born in Muscatine June 14, 1881, the daughter of Peter and Barbara Opelt Kuriger. She was married to Fred Wingerter Sept. 16, 1902, at St. Mary’s church.

Mrs. Wingerter w a member of St. Mathias church and also of the Catholic Daughters of America.

Surviving are her husband; three sons, Harold, Muscatine, Gerald, Davenport, and Merrill, Canton, Ill.; three daughters, Mrs. Marlyn Hayes, Mrs. Harold Dilley and Mrs. William Smalley, all of Muscatine; a brother, William Kuriger, Waterloo; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Held, davenport, and Mrs. James Valett, Muscatine; 14 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, two sisters and four brothers.

The body is at the Riley funeral home and services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mathias church. The Rosary will be recited at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in St. Mary’s cemetery.
