Albert Wetzel, Longtime Local Resident, Dies
Albert August Frederich Wetzel, 70, a resident of Muscatine for most of his life, died at 10p.m. Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clarence Carter, 1501 East Fifth street. Death followed a sever months’ illness.

The son of August and Fredericka Wetzel, he was born July 15, 1880, in Germany. He came to the United States at the age of three and had lived in Muscatine from that time. His wife was the former Katherine Schwab.

Mr. Wetzel had been employed at Barry Hardware Co. until his retirement five years ago. He was a member of Zion Lutheran church.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, John and Roy Wetzel, both of Muscatine, and Walter Wetzel of Rock Island; two daughters, Mrs. Clarence Carter and Mrs. Dorothy Goodrich, both of Muscatine one sister, Mrs. Anna Anderson of Muscatine; 12 Grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.

The body has been taken to the Geo. M. Wittich Funeral Home and services will be conducted there at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday by the Rev. Hartwig Harms, pastor of Zion Lutheran church. Burial will be in greenwood cemetery.
