Dr. John Alfred Wagner, Muscatine dentist, died at 10 p.m. Sunday at the University hospital, Iowa City, after a brief illness.

Dr. Wagner was a life resident of Muscatine. He was born here July 2, 1920, the son of Alfred and Florence Hughes Wagner.

He attended Muscatine Junior college and received his degree in dentistry at the State University of Iowa. He became associated in the office of Dr. H.G. Johnson in 1947.

He was a member of the Muscatine County Dental Association, and was recently elected treasurer of the Mississippi Valley Dental Association.

Dr. Wagner was a vestryman at Trinity Episcopal church, a member of the American Legion, and the Elks club.

He was married Nov. 27, 1949, at Burlington, to Juanita Collins.

Surviving are the widow; four sons, Eric, Kurt, Britt and Darcie; two sisters, Mrs. Virgil (Eunice) Godfrey of Glessen, Germany, and Mrs. Raymond (Margaret Ann) Gauler of Los Alamos, N.M.; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Wagner of Muscatine.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Episcopal church, Rev. H. Phillip Auffry will officiate.

Interment will be at Greenwood cemetery.

The body is now at the Fairbanks home for Funerals, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Tuesday.
