Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Josephine Simpson, 80, were held Sept. 7 at St. Joseph's Catholic church, West Liberty, with the Rev. Edward Mann officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery, Muscatine. The rosary was recited at the Snider funeral home Sept. 6.

Pallbearers were Harold Conley, Kenneth Regennitter, Charles Nortman, John Voss, Glenn Dotson and Earl Howe.

Mrs. Simpson died at the Simpson Memorial home Sept. 4 following an extended illness.

The daughter of Henry J. and Anna Moots Unkel, she was born in Sweetland township, Muscatine county July 10, 1897. She was married to Ryle Simpson at Nichols, Nov. 29, 1917. The couple farmed in Cedar county until moving to West Liberty 4 years ago.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic church, the Altar and Rosary society, the Iowa, Springdale and Gower township Homemakers and the Oak Hill Club.

She is survived by a son, Lloyd, West Liberty; a daughter, Mrs. Francis (Gertrude) Coder, Nichols, 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother.
