DEATH OF MRS. STEPHENS.

Mrs. Anna Beck Stephens, a well known former Muscatine woman, passed away at Los Angeles, California according to sad intelligence received here late Saturday by her sister Mrs. Adam Bomke, of Green street. The remains are now enroute to Muscatine and are expected to reach this city on Tuesday.

"It is not known just what had caused her death as the last time word was heard from her sha was feeling good and in no danger of fatal illness. Her only child, Miss Verna, was at her bedside when she passed away. Mrs. Stephens lived in Iowa all her life, leaving this city some two years ago to go to Nevada and from there to Los Angeles where he death occurred. At the time of her demise she was 52 years of age.

Miss Anna Beck was born in this city August 15, 1858. Her education was received in this city at the public and St. Mary's schools. A number of years ago she was united in marriage to Dr. W. H. Stephens, of Tipton. After leaving Nevada, Mrs. Stephens came back to this city for a visit after which she left for Los Angeles to make her future home. There with her brother Lambert and daughter Verna her home has been until her untimely death. Those who survive her are one daughter, Verna, and one sister and three brothers, they being Mrs. Adam Bomke and John Beck of this city, Chas. Beck of Memphis
