Funeral services for Giles Smith, former West Liberty resident and father of Mrs. Norman (Delores) Hansen, Tipton, were held at West Liberty Nov. 10 with burial at Oak Ridge cemetery.

Mr. Smith died at a Poplar Bluff, Mo. hospital Nov. 6, following a brief illness.

Born July 7, 1890 in Nichols, where he attended school, married Carrie E. Browning Aug. 17, 1912 at Nichols. He farmed most of his life and was a member of Pike Grange 2218 at Nichols.

He is survived by a son, Lester R., Muscatine; 2 daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Tompkins, of Van Buren, Mo. and Mrs. Hansen, Tipton; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are 2 brothers, Wesley, Columbus Junction, and Harry, California, and 3 sisters, Mrs. Vera Mersdrf, Springfield, Ore.; Mrs. Nina Dubisher, Iowa City, and Mrs. Bernice Tobin, Washington, Iowa.

His wife died in 1965.
