Ronald D. Butler, 42, West Liberty, died July 22 at a West Liberty nursing home after a 4 month illness.

Mr. Butler was born Dec. 16, 1928, in Burlington, son of Emmett F. and Murial Lounsberry Butler. He married Delores Lloyd May 23, 1953, in Newton.

He was a member of the West Liberty United Methodist church and the Rotary club, and was a past president of the West Liberty Chamber of Commerce. At the time of his death, he was director of Institutional Science for East Iowa Community college at Davenport. He was earlier employed in the promotional division of the Standard Oil Co. in Eastern Iowa. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Air Force. Mr. Butler had lived in West Liberty 6 years.

Surviving are his widow; 3 sons, Emmett, Scott and Brian; 3 daughters, Dee Ann, Dawa and Darlene, all of home; a brother, Robert F. Butler, Des Plaines, Ill.; a sister, Mrs. Janice Galloway, Newton, and his parents.
