Last rites for Mrs. Mildred C. Grant, 64, were held at West Liberty Feb. 22, with burial in the Oak Ridge cemetery at West Liberty.

Mrs. Grant died at a Muscatine nursing home Feb. 18, following a lengthy illness.

The daughter of Franklin I. and Catherine Meyers Smith, she was born July 13, 1906 at West Liberty. Jan. 26, 1951, she became the wife of C. W. Grant. She was of the Methodist faith.

Mrs. Grant taught in rural schools in Muscatine county and elementary schools in Atalissa, Audubon, Newton, Rock Island, Ill. and Seattle, Wash. before returning to West Liberty in 1964.

Surviving are 2 brothers, G. WIlliam Smith and Herschel Smith, West Liberty; 2 sisters, Mrs. Glen (Mable) Bennett, Tacoma, Wash.; and Frances Smith, Rock Island; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
