Funeral services for Andrew Harold MacGowan, 73, West Liberty, were held Jan. 3 at the Snider funeral home with Mrs. Ruth Strahan of Iowa City officiating. The organist was Mrs. Geneva Campbell. Pallbearers were Pete Ness, Preston Brown, Yates Thurness, Verland Olsen, Carl Spinden and Clifford Spinden. Interment was at Oakridge cemetery.

Mr. MacGowan died at Mercy hospital in Iowa City Dec. 31 after a brief illness.

The son of Ernest and Nell Hendrickson MacGowan, he was born on July 29, 1893 at West Liberty and had been a life resident of this community. He was a retired farmer, a member of the Christian church and the K. of P. lodge.

He married Ida May Hipple April 8, 1914 at Tipton.

He is survived by his wife, 3 sons, Bruce, Howard and Glen all of West Liberty; 4 daughters, Mrs. Cleo (Katheryn) Hall, Lone Tree; Mrs. John (June) Grandjean, Little Rock, Ark.; Mrs. Fred (Joyce) Steen, West Liberty and Mrs. Vernon (Audrey) Eden, Iowa City; 5 sisters, Mrs. Inez Lewis, West Liberty; Mrs. Bernice Preston, Mrs. Wilma Nichols, Mrs. Helen Fellows and Mrs. Dorothy Martin, who all reside in California; 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert LuVerne, in infancy.
