Pneumonia Fatal to Akins Infant; Services Thursday
James Frederick Atkins, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred K. Atkins, died at the home, 1728 Palm street, at 7 a.m. today. The child had been suffering from an abscess since Sunday and developed pneumonia Tuesday.
Two months and 23 days old, the child was born June 22, 1938, in Muscatine. Besides the parents, survivors include a grandmother, Mrs. Eli Atkins, Muscatine; three brothers, Clarence, Alfred, Jr., and Delbert, and three sisters, Bertha, Florence and Mildred, all at home.
The body will be removed from the Meyers Funeral home this afternoon to the family home on Palm street, where funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. L.F Church, pastor of the Lincoln Boulevard Baptist church, will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.
