Orvil F. Melick, 79, a life-time resident of the Atalissa vicinity, died at a West Liberty nursing home March 5.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. March 8 at the Snider Funeral home in West Liberty, with burial in Oakridge cemetery.

He was born Sept. 2, 1886, at Atalissa, the son of J. A. and Evelyn Melick. He farmed with his parents near Atalissa, and was never married.

A veteran of Army duty in World War I, Mr. Melick was a member of Ionic Lodge, AF and AM of Atalissa. He belonged to te Atalissa Presbyterian Church.
