Former Resident of Cone Suicide

(Journal’s Special Service)

Conesville, Ia. May 3 – Relatives and friends of the Daniels family of Iowa City, former residents of this community were greatly shocked Wednesday to hear of the death of William Daniels, caused by drinking strychnine. Death was instantaneous. Mr. Daniels was sixty-four years of age and for a great many years had made his home at this place.

He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, formerly Mrs. Mary Chown Stickney, two sons, William Jr., and Walter, one step daughter and three step sons. An only brother, John Daniels of Letts, also survives. The family moved to Iowa City several years ago where they had purchased a large farm on the outskirts of Iowa City. No reason for the action is known, but it is believed he was despondent over ill health. The remains will be brought her for burial.
