Louis F. Ruess, 67, of West Liberty, died at 5:30 a.m. Dec. 2 at his home in West Liberty, where he had been in failing health for the past year.

Born July 26, 1897, in West Liberty, he was the son of Henry and Minnie Brugman Ruess. He was a retired farmer.

He married Margaret White on Jan. 3, 1923, in West Liberty. A life-long resident of West Liberty, he was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic church of Nichols. He had been a Poland China hog breeder for 50 years, and was a member of the Poland China Hog Breeders association and a swine judge.

Survivors include his wife, a son, Kenneth, West Liberty; 2 daughters, Mrs. Kathleen Whitman, Grand Mound and Mrs. Donna Rickell, Clinton; 2 sisters, Mrs. Agnes Tillman, Alta Vista, Iowa, and Mrs. Nettie White, Atalissa; and 9 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
