Edward Bowman Called in Death

Attack of Influenza and Extreme Heat Proves Fatal for Garageman.

Edward Bowman, 65, a resident of Muscatine all his life and a veteran liveryman and garageman here, died at Hershey hospital shortly before 10 a.m. today after a brief illness.

Mr. Bowman complained of being ill Tuesday, suffering with a slight attack of influenza. This condition was aggravated by the intense heat early in the week and he was removed to Hershey hospital Wednesday after he collapsed at the garage.

Mr. Bowman was born in Muscatine July 6, 1869, the son of Gabriel and Dora Bowman. In his early life he was associated with his brothers in the livery business here and in 1918 the livery was converted into a garage and he remained in this organization. He was a member of the Modern Woodman of America and was one of the charter members of the Power Boat club. He never married.

Surviving are a sister, Mrs. E. C. Link, Muscatine, and three brothers, Gabe and Jake Bowman, Muscatine, and Fred Bowman of Miami, Fla. His parents and a brother, Frank, preceded him in death.

The body is at the George Wittich Funeral Home, 210 Cedar street, and will remain there for funeral services. Plans for the service s are indefinite and will be announced later.

Bowman Services Will Be Sunday

Final rites for Edward Bowman, lifelong resident of Muscatine whose death occurred at Hershey hospital Friday morning, will be conducted at the George Wittich Funeral Home, 210 Cedar street, at 2 p.m. Sunday by the Rev. Vernon Shontz, pastor of the First Baptist church. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery. The body is at the Wittich chapel and will remain there until services.

Last Rites held for Edward Bowman

Funeral services for Edward Bowman, whose death occurred at Hershey hospital Friday, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the George Wittich Funeral Home, 210 Cedar street, by the Rev. Vernon Shontz, pastor of the first Baptist church. Interment was in Greenwood cemetery.

Pallbearers were Dr. R. S. McNutt, John Aye, George Patterson, lem White, Gus Moigneu and Carl Schenkel. Flower attendants were Mrs. Louise Dillaway, Mrs. Harry Cooper, Mrs. Anna Beaham and Mrs. Smith
